Drunk driving charges filed after truck crashes into yard

There are a multitude of scenarios in which a collision can occur, and being involved in such an incident can be a stressful experience. Even if no one was injured in the process, dealing with the fallout of a crash can be intimidating, especially if the incident leads to allegations of wrongful behavior. A recent incident in which a truck is said to have crashed into a ditch and landed in a nearby yard has left a Wisconsin man facing drunk driving charges.

According to reports, authorities responded to the scene of the accident on a recent Wednesday night. They say that the truck had crashed into a ditch and continued to travel several hundred feet before going airborne and coming to a rest in a nearby yard. Although the driver of the truck did not appear to be injured, they claim he was exhibiting signs of impairment.

Field sobriety tests were reportedly administered soon thereafter and after allegedly failing to perform in a satisfactory manner, the man was taken into custody. He is now facing charges for driving while impaired and would face what would be his fifth drunk driving offense should a conviction be obtained. As a fifth conviction for similar offenses is a felony, the penalties involved would be severe and could have a lingering impact on his life.

Facing felony drunk driving charges can be a stressful and daunting experience. Those who stand accused of similar offenses and wish to know more about what to expect from the subsequent process could find it beneficial to retain the services of an attorney for guidance as soon as possible. An attorney can help a client in Wisconsin better understand all his or her available options and work toward developing a strategy to seek the best outcome achievable during subsequent legal proceedings.
