Wisconsin Man Asleep in Drive-through Accused of Drunk Driving

The dangers of drinking and driving are well-known. As a result, police officers in Wisconsin may be especially concerned about spotting and arresting a driver who appears to be under the influence of alcohol -- especially around the holidays. Unfortunately, a man asleep in a parked car at a fast food restaurant has recently been arrested, accused of drunk driving.

Police claim they were contacted by employees of a McDonald's during the early morning hours of a day in November. Employees claim that the man had been slurring his words. When police arrived, they reportedly discovered the man sleeping in the driver's seat of a van with the engine running. The van was parked in a spot intended for those waiting for their orders from the drive-through.

According to police, the man looked as if he were under the influence of alcohol. A field sobriety test was performed, which police say he failed. They then administered a breath test. The results of that are said to have indicated that the man's blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. He was subsequently arrested and is being held on $500 bond.

Drunk driving charges are serious, and a conviction can have serious consequences. Because the average person in Wisconsin has little experience with the processes associated with the criminal justice system, a person facing charges may be unprepared to make the necessary decisions regarding the direction his or her case will take. To help ensure they can make informed decisions, many seek the assistance of a criminal defense attorney with experience with such cases.
