Report of Domestic Dispute Leads to Drunk Driving Charges

|

Being involved in an investigation into the suspected presence of unlawful behavior can be a stressful process, especially when the situation stems from another matter altogether. When authorities are called out to a location to investigate a domestic dispute, the information provided by those involved could raise suspicions of additional wrongful behavior. A 53-year-old man was reportedly arrested on suspicion of drunk driving following a complaint about a domestic incident in Wisconsin.

Authorities assert the incident began after they received a complaint about a possible domestic dispute. After arriving at the residence, they reportedly spoke to a woman who was living at the residence. She claimed that an argument had erupted between her and a man who also lives at the home and told authorities that he was drunk and had became violent and punched a wall before driving away in their vehicle.

Police say the man returned to the residence later on and was taken into custody soon thereafter. It is unclear how the presence of impairment was determined and reports indicate that the man even appeared uncertain as to why he was arrested. However, authorities assert that after being taken into custody, the man appeared to be exhibiting various signs of impairment.

With reports indicating the presence of six previous drunk driving offenses, the man would likely face severe consequences should a seventh conviction be obtained. Those who encounter similar circumstances and wish to seek advice in making informed decisions about their situation could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney can examine the charges and evidence against a client in Wisconsin and assist in developing a strategy to seek the most favorable outcome achievable during court proceedings.
