It is easy to look at a person's past and make assumptions about their present and future. However, many people who have made mistakes are often able to overcome them and start a new life. Unfortunately, police in Wisconsin have accused a man with three drunk driving convictions of causing an accident while under the influence of alcohol.
Police say the incident occurred one afternoon in late January. Reports indicate that a 58-year-old man was driving on an interstate interchange. Unfortunately, he is believed to have lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into a barrier wall.
The man suffered injuries to his face in the accident. He reportedly told officers that he had a few drinks prior to the accident. Police say that a preliminary breath test revealed that his blood alcohol content was .13. The man was previously convicted of drunk driving charges in 1998, 2003 and 2015. If convicted in this case, he could spend six years in prison.
The stakes are high for this man as his faces his fourth charge of drunk driving. Because of the severity of the consequences of a conviction, he may choose to hire an experienced attorney to serve as his advocate and fight to protect his rights. A criminal defense attorney with experience concerning such cases can help examine the evidence against him, including whether the breath test results were accurate, and help the Wisconsin man make the decisions that will likely have a significant impact on the rest of his life.
