Report of Sleeping Driver Leaves 1 Accused of Drunk Driving

|

Drowsy driving continues to be a major concern and fatigue can impact a person's ability to operate a vehicle in various ways. Those who feel the effects of fatigue setting in may feel it best to park their vehicles and rest before continuing toward their destinations. Unfortunately, a Wisconsin man is facing drunk driving charges after a recent incident in which authorities claim to have found him asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in the middle of the road.

The incident is said to have taken place after authorities received a call about a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road during snowy weather conditions. Upon arriving at the scene, they claim to have found a man sleeping in the driver's seat of the vehicle and say that attempts to catch his attention were initially unsuccessful. Authorities say that after finally waking up and responding, the man appeared to be showing signs of impairment.

After allegedly failing to perform field sobriety tests in a satisfactory manner, he was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while impaired. Police also state that a subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered the presence of a substance that appeared to be cocaine. The man is currently facing numerous charges in relation to the incident, including driving while under the influence and operating on a revoked license.

Those who stand accused of drunk driving might not always be fully aware of their legal rights and how best to handle the process. When facing similar charges, a person in Wisconsin could benefit from seeking legal counsel as soon as possible for advice on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney can help a client better understand all his or her available options and work toward developing a strong defense for use during subsequent court proceedings.
