1 Accused DUI After Allegedly Driving in Wrong Lane in Wisconsin

|

Operating a vehicle on the wrong side of the road is probably a sure fire way to get pulled over. In addition to accusing a motorist of a traffic violation, authorities may also have increased suspicions of driver impairment under similar circumstances. A 58-year-old man is reportedly facing multiple charges, including DUI, after a recent traffic stop in Wisconsin.

On a recent Wednesday around 10 p.m., authorities claim to have came upon a vehicle that was travelling in the wrong lane of traffic. Upon approaching the location from the same lane of traffic, they assert that the vehicle was only travelling around five miles per hour. A traffic stop was then initiated, during which they claim the man was unable to perform field sobriety tests in a satisfactory manner.

Police also say that the man took a breath test, which allegedly indicated his blood alcohol level to be .09, which is over the legal driving limit. Along with various other charges, he is now facing his first DUI. Even a first offense for driving under the influence carries severe consequences if a conviction is obtained, and he may currently be preparing for the road ahead by focusing on his defense.

Facing DUI charges alone can be stressful and challenging, prompting many of the accused to seek assistance in the process. When facing a similar situation, a person in Wisconsin may choose to retain the services of an attorney for assistance throughout the process. A defense attorney can thoroughly examine the charges against a client and provide advice on the best course of action to take during court proceedings.
