Wisconsin Man Accused of Drunk Driving Following Crash

Car accidents can happen at any moment for a variety of different reasons. Because of the stigma associated with drunk driving, assumptions about a person's level of sobriety may be made if there is only the slightest hint that a person may have been consuming alcohol. One man in Wisconsin has been accused of drunk driving following a fatal crash.

The incident happened one morning on a day in early January. A witness claims that a driver, now facing criminal charges, crossed into oncoming traffic but was able to correct the car. However, the witness says that the vehicle crossed the dividing line again. While one vehicle was reportedly able to avoid an accident, a second one was not, and the two vehicles hit head-on.

The driver of the second vehicle passed away 10 days after the accident. Police say that they smelled alcohol coming from the driver of the first vehicle. While he ultimately told officials that he had consumed alcohol the night before, he claimed he had not that morning before leaving his house. A field sobriety test could not be conducted due to his injuries, and toxicology reports are apparently pending. Police say they also discovered several pill bottles in the vehicle, but it is unclear if he had a prescription for them.

The man faces several charges following the alleged drunk driving crash in Wisconsin, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Because of the severity of the charges the man faces, he may seek the advice of an attorney with experience with such cases. Such a professional can help him understand the evidence against him and choose an appropriate defense.
