Wisconsin Man Arrested on Alleged Sixth Owi Offense

There is no doubt that a Wisconsin resident's first driving under the influence charge is a serious legal matter. However, each additional drunk driving charge that an individual incurs can bring even more penalties, losses of privileges and other consequences. When a person has faced many alcohol-related charges and is suspected of engaging in allegedly dangerous activity, he or she can potentially face a lengthy jail sentence.

A Milwaukee man is facing just this possible fate as he confronts his apparent sixth DUI charge. The man was allegedly operating a car at a high rate of speed in the city, when he struck two parked cars and then a police car. The impact of hitting the cars pushed them into a police officer who was responding to an unrelated matter. The officer was thrown into the air and hurt in the incident.

In addition to charges related to DUI, the driver was also arrested for violating the terms of his parole. His parole was related to a prior drunk driving charge. He is now back in jail and must prepare to defend himself against some very significant legal claims.

There is no such thing as an easy DUI charge. All drunk driving charges carry consequences, penalties and costs. As a person builds a history of drunk driving convictions, however, it can get more and more difficult for him to successfully clear his name. Attorneys who provide drunk driving defense services can offer their clients some counsel on how to address subsequent DUI charges, but as all drunk driving matters are different, individuals should recognize the outcome of their case may vary depending on the facts of the case.
