2 Face Drunk Driving Charges After Parking on the Side of a Road

|

There may be a multitude of scenarios in which a driver may feel it necessary to pull off the side of the road. A vehicle malfunction or a medical emergency are just two examples of circumstances that could prompt a similar response. A recent incident in which authorities pulled over to check on two motorcycle riders under similar circumstances has left two men accused of drunk driving in Wisconsin.

The incident is said to have taken place on a recent Sunday morning after authorities claim to have encountered two motorcycles parked on the side of the road. Upon stopping to check on the riders, authorities claim to have discovered both men to be exhibiting signs of impairment. Although no further details were provided as to what might have led to this conclusion, officers reportedly initiated field sobriety tests soon thereafter.

Law enforcement agents assert that both of the riders failed to perform field sobriety tests in a satisfactory manner. One of the men was issued a citation for a first offense of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The other man was arrested on suspicion of a fifth drunk driving offense and is reportedly facing felony charges.

Being accused of drunk driving can be an intimidating experience and those who face similar charges might not be certain of how best to approach the situation. Following a similar incident, a person in Wisconsin could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney for guidance on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly, along with the charges and evidence against a client, and assist in forming a strong defense for use during subsequent court proceedings.
