Traffic violation leaves 1 facing drunk driving charges

While many newer vehicle models come with automatic activation for headlights, some drivers may still be forced to activate their lights the old fashioned way. In some cases, a person may forget to activate the headlights at night and in well-lit areas, it can be difficult to determine if one's lights are even on. A traffic stop that was initiated under similar circumstances in Wisconsin has reportedly left a 39-year-old woman accused of drunk driving.

Law enforcement agents claim to have encountered a person who was operating a vehicle without the use of headlights on a recent Sunday at around 3:30 a.m. Officers say they attempted to initiate a traffic stop shortly thereafter but claim that the driver failed to comply. Police say she eventually came to a stop after allegedly turning onto a nearby interstate ramp while heading in the wrong direction.

During the traffic stop, police claim the woman was exhibiting multiple signs of impairment. After allegedly falling to the ground during field sobriety tests, she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Police also assert that a blood test was conducted and that the woman will be charged with operating a vehicle while impaired after being released from the facility.

Being accused of drunk driving can be a scary and stressful experience. Individuals who face similar charges may wish to gain insight on all their available options, and they could choose to seek guidance on how to prepare for what comes next from an experienced attorney. This type of advice could help a person in Wisconsin better understand what to expect from the process and assist him or her in preparing to pursue the most favorable outcome achievable during subsequent court proceedings.
