Car and house fire leads to drunk driving charges for 1

A Wisconsin man has recently been accused of driving under the influence of alcohol after his vehicle allegedly struck the home in which he resides. Facing drunk driving charges can be an intimidating process, and a conviction for similar offenses carries severe penalties. With the potential gravity of the situation, he is likely focusing on his defense in preparation for legal proceedings.

According to a witness, the man allegedly slammed into the side of his home on a recent Saturday morning, causing his vehicle to erupt in flames. The fire subsequently transferred to the house, allegedly forcing others to climb out of or jump through windows to escape the flames. Emergency responders are uncertain what may have caused the vehicle to catch fire, but note that the damage to the property was substantial.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, and the man has been arrested on suspicion of intoxicated driving while it is underway. A conviction for similar charges may only increase in severity if substantial damage to property is present. Although the witness claims to have noticed the man attempting to extinguish the fire with a water hose, it is unclear if she actually saw him drive into the building, or if field sobriety and/or breath tests were conducted at any point during the process.

Individuals who are accused of drunk driving may wish to protect themselves from potentially devastating consequences, but the process can be complex. By speaking with an attorney, a client in Wisconsin could obtain advice and assistance in forming a strong defense. If a conviction is unavoidable, an attorney can assist a client in pursuing a lesser sentence during court proceedings.
