1 accused of drunk driving after crashing into a lake

Losing control of a vehicle and veering off the road can be a scary experience under any circumstance. Even if a driver walks away from the crash relatively unscathed, dealing with the aftermath could still prove intimidating, especially if allegations of wrongful behavior arise. One person has been arrested and accused of drunk driving following an incident in which a vehicle veered off a bridge and crashed into a lake in Wisconsin.

The incident reportedly began after authorities claimed to have received information about an erratic driver on a recent Wednesday evening. They say that the driver had veered off the road and collided with a concrete barrier before driving off of a nearby bridge and crashing into a lake nearly 100 feet below. The driver was reportedly able to escape the vehicle and swim away and was rescued from the lake soon thereafter.

Authorities say this person was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. While no further information was provided as to how authorities came to suspect the presence of impairment, this person was also arrested and charges with operating while impaired. Although reports indicate that this would be his or her first offense should a conviction be obtained, even a first offense carries serious repercussions.

Individuals who stand accused of drunk driving might not always be certain of how best to respond to the situation. When facing a similar scenario, a person in Wisconsin could benefit from consulting with an attorney as soon as possible for guidance on all his or her available options. An attorney can thoroughly examine the circumstances a client is facing and work toward creating a strategy to pursue the most favorable outcome achievable concerning his or her future during court proceedings.
