1 accused of drunk driving after vehicle crashes into curb

Driver fatigue continues to be a major concern and those who succumb to drowsiness while operating a vehicle may struggle to maintain proper lane control. While the concept of falling asleep behind the wheel could be tied to a lack of rest or long hours on the road, there is also a chance authorities may suspect the possible presence of impairment. An incident in which a man was allegedly found asleep behind the wheel of a car in Wisconsin has reportedly left him accused of drunk driving.

Authorities say the incident began when they received reports of a driver exhibiting reckless behavior on a recent Friday night. After arriving at the scene, they claim to have found the vehicle had came to a halt against a nearby curb. Police assert that the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel of the car before crossing into an intersection and crashing into the curb.

No further information was provided as to how authorities came to suspect the presence of impairment. However, the man was reportedly taken into custody soon thereafter on suspicion of driving while impaired. He is also facing charges for failing to install an ignition interlock device in the vehicle.

With reports indicating the presence of four previous convictions for drunk driving, the man will be facing felony charges. Those who stand accused of similar offenses and wish to seek insight on what to expect from and how best to prepare for what comes next could find it helpful to retain the services of an attorney for guidance. An attorney can examine the charges and evidence against a client in Wisconsin and assist him or her in preparing a strong defense for use during subsequent court proceedings.
