Witness descriptions leave 1 accused of drunk driving

There may be a variety of factors police must consider when investigating a motor vehicle accident. Should one party leave the scene of such an incident, authorities may be forced to rely on descriptions given by witnesses to locate this person. A 54-year-old woman in Wisconsin is facing drunk driving charges after an investigation into a hit-and-run crash involving similar circumstances.

Police say they received reports of the crash on a recent Tuesday evening. While many of the details pertaining to how the crash occurred remain unclear, they claim that upon arriving at the scene, they found one of the vehicles to be unoccupied. Nearby witnesses were allegedly able to provide them with a description of the driver, who police located and took into custody soon thereafter.

No further information was provided as why authorities came to believe the woman was impaired at the time of the crash. However, she was arrested and is currently facing numerous charges, including drunk driving, leaving the scene of a crash and having an open container of alcohol. According to reports, this would be her third drunk driving offense should a conviction be obtained.

When facing drunk driving charges, the average person may lack the necessary legal experience to know how best to approach the situation. Those who stand accused of similar offenses and wish to better understand their options and legal rights could find it helpful to consult with an attorney as soon as possible for guidance. An attorney in Wisconsin can examine the charges and evidence against a client and assist in forming a strong defense for use during subsequent legal proceedings.
