Domestic disturbance call leads to drunk driving charges

It might not be uncommon for couples to experience some level of conflict over the course of a relationship. Following a heated argument, emotions can run high and any feelings of anger or frustration could impact the decisions one makes. Following a recent call about a domestic dispute, a 22-year-old man in Wisconsin was arrested and accused of drunk driving after police say he collided with a building while attempting to evade a traffic stop.

The incident is said to have taken place after authorities responded to reports of a domestic disturbance at around 11 p.m. on a recent Wednesday. After arriving at the location, police say that a woman told them she had been arguing with her partner when he suddenly broke a nearby window before getting in a vehicle and leaving the scene. They also assert that the woman claimed the man had consumed alcohol prior to getting behind the wheel.

Authorities say they were able to locate the vehicle less than 30 minutes later and assert that after attempting to initiate a traffic stop, the man attempted to flee. They claim that during the pursuit, he suddenly lost control of the car and crashed into the side of a nearby school. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter and is reportedly facing multiple charges, including driving while impaired and operating on a suspended license.

Being accused of drunk driving can be a stressful and scary experience and the outcome of the situation could have a lingering impact on one's life in various ways. Those who face similar charges may wish to know more about how to prepare for what comes next, but they might be uncertain where to turn for assistance in navigating the process. Fortunately, there are attorneys who can examine the circumstances a person in Wisconsin is facing and assist him or her in pursuing the best outcome achievable during court proceedings.
