Wisconsin man faces drunk driving charges after traffic stop

When it comes to being accused of a crime, everyone has rights that must be upheld throughout the process. Unfortunately, many are unaware of their legal rights and uncertain how best to handle a similar situation, especially when confronted with a routine traffic stop. A 31-year-old man has been arrested and is reportedly facing drunk driving charges after he was pulled over for driving without a license during a recent traffic stop in Wisconsin.

According to reports, the traffic stop was initiated after authorities allegedly learned that a nearby driver was operating a vehicle without a valid driver's license. After initiating the stop and approaching the vehicle, they claim to have caught the scent of alcohol coming from within. After the driver allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving, field sobriety tests were initiated.

It remains unclear how authorities came to believe the man was operating without a valid license. Following the performance of field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody on suspicion of impairment. Police also assert that a subsequent chemical test indicated his blood alcohol content to be .19, and he reportedly remains in custody while awaiting further legal proceedings.

Knowing how to respond when accused of drunk driving can be challenging, and navigating the criminal justice system can be a complex process. Fortunately, one doesn't have to go through this alone, and there are attorneys who can provide a person with some much-needed guidance about his or her case. An attorney can help a client in Wisconsin form a strong defense and, if a conviction is unavoidable, assist him or her in pursuing a lesser sentence during court proceedings.
