Call from witness leads to drunk driving charges for 1

There are a variety of scenarios in which a person may exhibit erratic behavior while driving. When witnesses place a call about a driver who is drifting in and out of lanes of traffic, law enforcement agents are obligated to investigate the matter. A 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving during a traffic stop that took place under similar circumstances in Wisconsin.

Authorities advised that the incident began when a witness called in to report a possible drunk driver who was operating a vehicle with a child inside. Upon locating the vehicle in question, police proceeded to initiate a routine traffic stop. During the stop, field sobriety tests were conducted, and after he allegedly failed to perform the tests in a satisfactory manner, police began to administer a breath test.

According to police, the subsequent breath test indicated his blood alcohol content to be .07, which is just under the legal limit to operate a vehicle. However, they claim that, due to a previous conviction a for similar offense, the man was restricted to a blood alcohol content of .02. Police also claim to have located an open alcohol container within the vehicle, and he was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving soon thereafter.

Without the necessary legal experience, the average person may be uncertain how best to respond to allegations of this nature. Those who stand accused of drunk driving could choose to prepare for what comes next by seeking the guidance of a defense attorney. An attorney can evaluate the circumstances a client in Wisconsin is facing and provide guidance on the best course of action to take during court proceedings.
