Wisconsin Man Faces Drunk Driving Charges Following Car Troubles

Some people in Wisconsin have made mistakes. Even if they have made efforts to overcome these mistakes, it may be easy for others to assume that they will repeat the same mistakes in the future, especially if criminal charges were involved. Unfortunately, a man now faces drunk driving charges -- the ninth time he has faced such charges.

The man's arrest came during the early morning hours of a day in early February. A Wisconsin state trooper allegedly noticed a car that he claims had sparks emitting from it. The trooper initiated a stop near an interstate off-ramp.

The trooper claims that the car was missing a tire, causing the sparks. The 47-year-old driver allegedly identified himself, and his record indicated that he had eight previous operating while intoxicated convictions. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Other than the car troubles that the man experienced, it is unclear if there is evidence that supports the drunk driving accusations against the Wisconsin man. As in all criminal cases, those accused of a crime are considered not guilty until proved otherwise. Fortunately, the burden of proof is high to prevent wrongful convictions. Because of the seriousness of the consequences of a ninth conviction for driving under the influence, the man may choose to hire an attorney with experience with the criminal process to represent his best interests in court. With such a professional on their side, those facing drunk driving charges are better prepared to make important decisions -- including whether to fight charges in court or accept a plea deal -- that will have a significant impact on the rest of their lives.
