Wisconsin man accused of drunk driving after crash

Anyone who has driven with children in the car know of the distractions they can cause. A small child who demands a dropped sippy cup or older children who are fighting can easily pull a parent's attention away from the task of driving a vehicle. One Wisconsin man now faces drunk driving charges after he allegedly wrecked a van containing three children under the age of 16.

According to reports, the 32-year-old was driving through a Wisconsin town early one morning on a day in early January. Unfortunately, police claim that the van exited the roadway. Afterward, it reportedly struck both a tree and a utility pole before coming to a stop.

Reports claim that the driver failed a field sobriety test. Although police say his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit, his exact BAC and how it was determined remain unclear. The mother picked up the children as the van sustained significant damage. The driver faces multiple charges as a result of the accident.

Those facing criminal accusations may not know the wisest course of action to take. While it may be in some people's best interest to pursue a plea deal that will result in reduced charges, others may chose to fight the charges in court. Because of the stigma associated with drunk driving, many in Wisconsin face significant ramifications when they are faced with accusations alone. An attorney with experience with such cases can help choose the most appropriate path for each person's individual circumstances.
