Authorities arrested a Fond du Lac man following an alleged drunk driving accident in Wisconsin. The 30-year-old man was apprehended after authorities received phone call tips about a suspicious car parked in the driveway of a business. At around 4:40 a.m. authorities approached the vehicle where the driver was reportedly passed out. Officers also noticed front-end damage.
After authorities woke up the man, the man apparently began swearing at the officers and proceeded to drive his vehicle backward causing it to collide with the police vehicle. Authorities were able to apprehend the man after he resisted and they transported him to the hospital for a blood alcohol test. The results of the blood test were not reported, but they booked the suspect after the test.
Officers are still trying to determine what caused the initial damage to his vehicle and an investigation is ongoing. In some situations, drivers could use the details of their arrest to help in their defense strategies. If the arrest was improper or the blood test was not properly conducted, this evidence could be suppressed. This could help reduce or drop the charges against the accused.
